The fifth-generation Ibiza that has been updated is a contender for the supermini segment. It competes with the Renault Clio and Peugeot 208 as well as the Ford Fiesta.
With a thumb nail, or a small screwdriver that has a flat head (A) to lift up the key fob battery compartment cover (B). Replace the CR2025 battery, ensuring it is inserted in the proper direction.
Dead Coin Battery
A dead battery on a coin is the most frequent cause of a key fob not locking or unlocking your vehicle. It will usually show indications before it dies, like a decrease in range or no power at any time. It is easy to replace it with a new one (CR2025) from the local supermarket. It is important to be aware that using the wrong or unsuitable batteries can damage your key fob. Make sure that the battery you purchase is the same size, specification and voltage as your old one.
If your fob was exposed to pure water, such as rainwater or soapy tap water, it is likely that corrosion has caused damage to the chip's electronic circuit. You might try cleaning your chip with isopropyl Alcohol or an electronic cleaner to test if it helps, but it is likely the chip has been fried.
A new key fob is the easiest solution. They can be purchased from a variety of major dealerships and can be fitted by a professional mechanic. You can also purchase them online, such as on eBay. It is recommended to work on a work surface that has good lighting. It is easier to work with the small parts. You will also be able to avoid placing something in the wrong location. Always keep the key fob in a secure and safe place.
Water Damage
If your key fob gets soaked by dropping it in the pool or throwing it in the washing machine you might think it's a goner but there's a chance. When the circuit board on the fob is exposed to water, it develops an electrical conductor, which shorts the components. seat key cover of corrosion and rust.
This is a simple fix. Find something absorbent to place inside the fob. A tissue or a paper towel will be a good choice. Then make use of an alcohol-soaked cotton swab and a cotton swab isopropyl ethanol to wipe down the circuit board and other components to get rid of any residues of acid from batteries and contamination. Let the fob air dry in a warm, dry environment for a few weeks.
Replace the battery after the fob is dry with a fresh one with the same dimensions and polarity ('+' (pointing upwards). It can be tricky to open the fob to access the battery but if you have a small flat-head screwdriver at hand, it will slide in easily. After the fob is reassembled, it should work just as normal. If it fails then you might need to re-program it or replace the module.

Radio Interference
When a keyfob is working properly, it sends out a radio frequency that is absorbed by a receiver module inside your vehicle. If the signal is disrupted the key fob won't function. This can be caused by objects, weather conditions, or other transmitters that operate on the same frequency near your vehicle.
This can cause your key fob's button to not work the vehicle's systems such as the ignition switch or security system. It is recommended to replace the battery of your key fob.
Some LED lighting from the aftermarket that utilizes the same frequency as a remote key fob can interfere with the signal and block it from reaching the receiver modules. The LED's light source must be turned off or switched to a different frequency in order to be able to avoid interference.
If the problem persists after installing a new battery, the antenna of your key fob may be damaged or malfunctioning. The antenna is responsible for transmitting a signal between the key fob and the receiver module. A scan of the OBDII can help diagnose the problem by revealing what's wrong with your system. The scanner will request information about your specific vehicle, such as the model and make, engine type, and VIN number.
Faulty Receiver Module
The key fob comes with a receiver module that sends signals to lock and unlock the key fob. If this module is damaged then all the on-board electronic components will stop functioning. Reprogramming the key fob using an OBDII scan or replacing it may help.
This issue can be caused by a dead coin-cell, water damage or signal interference. You can reset your on-board computer by disconnecting the 12 Volt batteries for 15 mins. This will draw out any remaining electrical energy that could cause issues. Remove the cable first from the negative terminal, then from the positive terminal. After 15 minutes, connect the battery in reverse order beginning with positive first, and negative second.
The presence of dirt or water could cause damage to the internal chip of the key fob. If your key fob stopped functioning after getting wet, wipe it with isopropyl or electronic cleaner. After that, replace the battery. If your key has stopped working after being exposed to soapy or salted water, it's likely that the chip is damaged and must be replaced.
A defective fuse for the antenna module could also be the cause. It is the fuse that transmits an indication to the vehicle to lock or unlock. Depending on the model the fuse can be found in one of the many locations like the engine bay, the side of the dashboard, beneath the rear seat, or in the trunk.
